A PARENT’S NIGHTMARE

 

My child doesn’t (talk) to me anymore

 

 

COMMUNICATION MANDATE

 

One of our responsibilities as a parent is to keep the lines of (communication) open

 

“These commandments I that give you today are to be upon your hearts.  Impress them on your children.  Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.  Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads.  Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.”
Deuteronomy 6:6-9

 

HOW DO I COMMUNICATE WITH MY CHILDREN?

 

Ž  Make it the (expectation)

 

Good communication is not just a (rare) occasion

 

Ž  Create good (environments)

 

Good communication thrives in the (right) places

 

Ž  Invest (time)

 

Good communication doesn’t happen in a (flash)

 

Ž  Know your child’s (love) language

 

Good communication (invests) in the other person

 

Physical Touch . . . Words of Affirmation . . . Quality Time . . . Gifts . . . Acts of Service

 

Ž  Have a (strategy)

 

Good communication happens (intentionally)
