IN REGARD TO A MORAL RIGHT AND WRONG, MAKE A LIST OF BEHAVIORS THAT YOU BELIEVE ARE MORALLY WRONG.  USING A CONCORDANCE, SEE IF YOU CAN FIND SCRIPTURES TO BACK UP WHY THESE THINGS ARE WRONG

Ê  What makes these things wrong?

Ê  How do they harm your relationship with God?  With others?

READ DEUTERONOMY 32:4

Ê  What does it say about God’s character in relationship to the idea of wrong?

Ê  What happens when morality goes beyond the black and white truths that are clearly spelled out in the Bible?

Ê  How is morality chosen when there is no specific mention from God’s Word?

Ê  Can you think of 2 or 3 issues that are considered gray areas in relationship to right/wrong?

Ê  Why are these areas more difficult to gage morally?

READ MATTHEW 6:33 AND PROVERBS 3:5-6

Ê  According to God’s Word, what should be the focus of our decisions?

Ê  What is God’s promise to us if we seek him first?

Ê  Why do you think God created boundaries for His creation?

Ê  What would the world look like without boundaries or morals?

READ ROMANS 1:26-32

This passage paints a brief picture of a world living by its own morality

Ê  In what ways does our world look similar to this passage?

Ê  What role does the Christian play in changing this pattern?

Ê  Do you consider yourself to be morally strong, morally weak, or morally middle of the road?

READ REVELATION 3:14-16

Ê  What role does consistency play in morality?

Ê  What does the lack of consistency do for the story or testimony of the person?

Ê  What does it do to the relationships with one another?

One of the great truths of the gospel is that God looks at the heart of a person.  Thankfully God does not only judge by the failures and shortcomings of the person because of what Jesus has done on behalf of the believer

READ I SAMUEL 16:7

Ê  Where does God look to judge a person?

READ PROVERBS 4:20-27

Ê  How do you guard your heart?

READ MATTHEW 6:21

Ê  What does the Bible tell us about how actions and the conditions of the heart are related?

Ê  How does our morality reflect our hearts condition?

READ JAMES 3:1-12

Ê  How does the friction between what is in our heart and what comes out through our mouth affect our relationship with God?  With others?

Ê  How do we align our heart, our mouth, and our actions together?

WHEN YOU ANSWER THIS QUESTION, YOU HAVE JUST DEFINED BIBLICAL MORALITY!
