ž  (Biblical) understanding

 

 

SOME OF OUR BIBLICAL KNOWLEDGE IS MYTH-BASED

 

MYTH #4

The Bible says that women are (inferior) to men

 

TRUTH

The Bible says that God created “(them)” in His image

 

“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.”

Genesis 1:27

 

PRACTICAL

Marriage is a (sanctuary) of growth toward God and one another

MYTH #5

The Bible says that women and men have (specific) marriage roles

 

TRUTH

The Bible says that there is a (balance) of sacrifice and respect in the home

 

“Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her . . . “

Ephesians 5:25

 

“However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.”

Ephesians 5:33

 

PRACTICAL

There are no (doormats) in a healthy marriage

The Bible says that my wife should do (whatever) I tell her to do

 

TRUTH

The Bible calls for mutual (submission)

 

“Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.”

Ephesians 5:21

 

PRACTICAL

Marriage was not intended to be a (power) struggle

WHAT IS CHRIST-LIKE SUBMISSION?

 

 

I  It begins with the heart of a (servant)

 

REALITY

A servant husband doesn’t consider himself more (important) than his wife

 

I  It is (evaluating) and (learning) her needs

 

REALITY
I have to know my wife’s (needs) in order to meet them

WHAT ARE MY WIFE’S NEEDS?

r  (Conversation)

r  (Honesty) and openness

r  (Financial) security

r  (Family) commitment

 

I  Commitment to (follow through)

 

REALITY

I must set the standard of (commitment) and (excellence) in our marriage

The husband is called to be the (champion of grace)

 

I  Hopes of a (returned love)

 

REALITY

If I love my wife as (Christ) loved the church, she will be more likely to (respond) and (return) my love
