MYTH #1

Most people in a marriage (crisis) believe that they would be better off with (someone else)

 

I  TRUTH

There are no (perfect) marriages – and there are difficulties in (every) relationship

 

  COMMITMENT

I would rather have these struggles (with you) than (anyone else) in the world!

 

“When a man makes a vow to the Lord or takes an oath to obligate himself by a pledge, he must not break his word but must do everything he said.”

Numbers 30:2

MYTH #2

It is my (spouse’s) job to fulfill me or meet my needs

 

 

I  TRUTH

There is only one relationship that is (capable) of meeting all of your needs

 

“ ‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’ ”

Jeremiah 29:11

COMMITMENT

I won’t ask my spouse to play (God) in my life

 

“Worship no god but me.”

MYTH #3

Married couples are never (happy)

 

I  TRUTH

(Passion) is the reward for couples who work to build a (healthy) marriage

 

COMMITMENT

I will not settle for (‘getting by’) in my marriage

 

“Work hard and cheerfully at all you do, just as though you were working for the Lord . . . ”
